ATELIER MENO 1

"A large space on the -1 floor located in the Città Studi area of Milan, it is a place with various connotations. Since September 2021, it has become a venue for hosting not only its works but also those of other artists during private micro-exhibitions and studio visits.

Exploring what lies beyond the visible has been a practice that has engaged humanity since the dawn of time. Beneath the surface of every physical and metaphysical element hides a world rich with impressions, emotions, and alternate realities. More life than death is generated underground, and the darkness that conceals everything is not absence but potential yet to be manifested. The process of investigating the intangible leads to the overlap of images and thoughts, a layering that generates material and immaterial complexities, which, when combined, create new meaning. A distinctive trait of human beings is precisely that they do not stop at the exterior of what they perceive, but investigate various dimensions that lead to new questions and understandings of essence and truth. A potentially infinite cycle where one can explore and lose oneself, finding shelter and comfort from the superficiality of daily life. Paraphrasing Dostoevsky, men tend toward reason, which, while good, leads only to satisfying rational faculties and repressing their true nature. Over time, all thoughts and behaviors have been classified and normalized, and everything that deviates is pushed away and often marginalized. Contemporary society is trapped in a sequence of patterns, prohibitions, and physical and spiritual boundaries—freedom, creativity, and irrationality are often sacrificed in the name of science. Eight contemporary artists are invited to present their personal research, leading them to explore what lies beneath the surface, accessing the 'subsoil' of reality and surpassing the limit for a more complete perception of the world.
